This is my story, a glimpse into my music journey and the evolution of Gianluca Zanna music, all intertwined with the rich history of Zanna Records.

I was born in Rome, and at eleven, I made the decision to attend boarding school at the Convitto Nazionale, not because I wanted to leave home, but because I recognized the financial burden it placed on my family. By the age of sixteen, I entered the Nunziatella military academy in Naples. During this time, I worked the streets of Rome as a Roman gladiator. My music journey began before I prioritized money. I founded Contatto Discografico, which eventually became Italy’s leading music trade magazine. In 1995, this venture took me to MIDEM in Cannes, where I met Claes Cornelius of Mega Records. He inspired my move to America, and thirty years later, he became my mentor. In 1998, I arrived in America and started anew. I built internet companies, worked in private security, taught men and women how to shoot straight, and continuously wrote songs, even when nobody was asking for my music yet. This journey eventually led to the establishment of Zanna Records, marking an important chapter in the history of my music career.

In 2022, my music journey took a pivotal turn when I began collaborating with Brian Reeves on my song "Storm." Brian, renowned for mixing records for icons like Donna Summer, Giorgio Moroder, U2, Elton John, Billy Idol, and Simple Minds, was a name I had admired since my teenage years in an Italian military school, where I dreamed of America while listening to the very records he worked on without ever knowing his identity.
Hearing Brian’s mix of "Storm" was a transformative moment for me. For the first time, I realized that I could deliver productions at true record quality. Brian went on to mix more than a dozen of my songs, including the "Storm" remixes, "I Want to Know (Are You the One)," "Life Goes On," and many more.
In December 2022, I founded Zanna Records, establishing a unique history without a major label, investor, or asking for permission. With a diverse catalog of over two hundred original compositions spanning EDM, rock, classical, and operatic music, I believed that the music would find its path if I continued to share it.
My music is produced from an off-grid ranch in eastern Arizona, surrounded by solar panels, well water, a satellite dish, and juniper trees. Despite the unconventional location, there’s no reason a record label shouldn't thrive here.
And it does work. Now, my music reaches approximately 500 radio stations across 99 countries and six continents, is played in about half a million retail stores worldwide, and has surpassed 45 million views on YouTube. Notably, NPR's This American Life licensed "Wake Up America," and one of our songs even featured on a Times Square billboard. I also perform under the name Luca, alongside Claudette Lyons.
