An Italian Kid, a Desert, and a Debt to the Maestro. I was born in Italy, where the western was never really about America. It was about silence. About a man walking into an empty frame while the music told you everything the dialogue would not. Ennio Morricone taught an entire generation of Italians that a landscape could sing. He scored deserts he had barely seen — most of those films were shot in Almería, Spain, standing in for Arizona and Texas. The dust was Spanish. The myth was American. The music was Italian.
I moved to the United States in 1998. Today I write from an off-grid ranch in eastern Arizona — solar panels, a well, twenty-odd acres of juniper, and a horizon that goes on until it stops meaning anything.
The landscape Morricone imagined is the one outside my window. These tracks are what came out of that.

Instrumental western themes built for wide shots, standoffs, and long rides toward nothing.
